100 Meter, nur ein paar wenige Schläge, aber Frequenz und Rohkraft sind für eine schnelle Zeit gefragt. Am Besten konnten dies in dieser letzten und entscheidenden Runde Scarlett CELLESZUN-FÖRTIG (RG Grünau) und Balazs CSAFORDA (Donaubund) umsetzen. Dabei konnten auch wieder vier neue Österreichische Rekorde erzielt werden.
Dirty Dozen – Ergebnisse, Daten, Fakten
Es ist vollbracht – nach dem finalen 100 Sprint ist die Dirty Dozen Challenge 2023/2024 komplett. Im Zuge der Austrian Ergo Challenge Series kam dieses Format zum sechsten Mal zur Austragung. Es ist erfreulich, dass mit jedem Jahr ein Zuwachs ein Teilnehmer*Innen registriert werden konnte. In der Saison 2023/2024 waren dies 191 Ergomanen*Innen (F 65/ M 126) von 42 Vereinen aus Ungarn, Deutschland, Kroatien, Italien und Österreich. Teilnahmemagnet auch in diesem Jahr wieder die virtuelle Überfahrt über den Wörthersee bei der Ergo Rose. Nicht weniger als 137 stellten sich den 16.000 Meter, aber auch die durchschnittliche Teilnehmerzahl kam mit 103 TeilnehmerInnen erstmals in den 3-stelligen Bereich. Somit konnten die Challenge einige neue Rekorde erzielen:
Das ersehnte Ziel alle 12 Bewerbe in 12 Wochen abzuschließen, schafften am Ende 58 Unermüdliche. Angemerkt sei dabei, dass neben COVID auch noch die Grippe einige Athleten*Innen vom ersehnten Ziel abbrachte.
Gesamtergebnis im Verhältnis zum Weltrekord:
Von Anfang an machten in dieser Kategorie Scarlett GELLESZUNG-FÖRTIG (RG Grünau) und Jeffrey CAMPBELL (ISTER Linz) klar, dass ein Gesamtsieg nur im Zweikampf gegen sie zu erreichen sei. Ute SIMMA (Wiking Bregenz) wurde zur großen Herausforderin für Scarlett. Mit 11 neuen Österr. Rekorden, von 12 möglichen, kam Ute bei den Sprintbewerben immer besser in Fahr, konnte die fehlenden Punkte der Langstreckenbewerbe letztendlich aber nicht mehr aufholen. Vier neue Rekorde in der Gesamtwertung konnten erreicht werden.
Bei den Herren machte Jeffrey bei den langen Bewerben gute Punkte. Nicht weniger als neun neue Österr. Rekorde buchte er auf sein Konto. Aber ab den 2000 Meter setzte Ivan MIHALJVIC (Mladost Zagreb) Jeff unter Druck. Als guter Sprinter machte er in jeder Runde Punkte gut, musst sich aber nach 12 Runden um 3,36 Punkte geschlagen geben. Drei neue Rekorde der Gesamtwertung wurde bei den Männern erreicht.
Gesamtergebnis nach Alter und Gewicht:
Topscorer aller Alters und Gewichtskategorien in den Topplätzen. In den letzten Runden wechselte die Führung und Platzierungen, oft nur durch wenige Zehntelpunkte getrennt, mehrmals. Letztendlich konnte sich Ute SIMMA (Wiking Bregenz) durchsetzen und die Wertung 2023 für sich entscheiden. Während der 12 Durchgänge ganz unscheinbar, Anna ALLIQUANDER (DNHE Budapest) und Claudia GIACOMAZZI (DLN Trieste), aber in Gesamtwertung immer sehr stark. Sie können so wie Scarlett, Dubravko, Ivan oder Goran keine Österr. Rekorde aufstellen.
Als Challenge Admin danke ich für die meist pünktliche Übermittlung der Daten und der Nachsicht bei manch einem Fehler bei der Eintragung in der Ergebnisliste.

100 meters, just a few strokes, but frequency and raw power are required for a fast time. Scarlett CELLESZUN-FÖRTIG (RG Grünau) and Balazs CSAFORDA (Donaubund) were able to implement this best in this final and decisive round. Four new Austrian records were achieved again.
Dirty Dozen – results, data, facts:
It’s done – after the final 100 sprint, the Dirty Dozen Challenge 2023/2024 is complete. This format was held for the sixth time as part of the Austrian Ergo Challenge Series. It is gratifying that an increase in participants has been registered every year. In the 2023/2024 season there were 191 ergomaniacs (F 65/M 126) from 42 clubs from Hungary, Germany, Croatia, Italy and Austria. Once again this year, the virtual crossing over Lake Wörthersee the Ergo Rose was a magnet for participation. 137 participants took part in the 16,000 meters, and the average number of participants also reached the 3-digit range for the first time with 103 participants. The challenge was able to achieve some new records:
In the end, 58 tireless people achieved the desired goal of completing all 12 competitions in 12 weeks. It should be noted that in addition to COVID, the flu also took some athletes away from their desired goal.
Overall result in relation to the world record:
From the start, Scarlett GELLESZUNG-FÖRTIG (RG Grünau) and Jeffrey CAMPBELL (ISTER Linz) made it clear in this category that an overall victory could only be achieved in a duel against them. Ute SIMMA (Wiking Bregenz) became the big challenger for Scarlett. With 11 new Austrians. Records, out of 12 possible, Ute got better and better in the sprint competitions, but was ultimately unable to make up for the missing points in the long-distance competitions. Four new records in the overall ranking were achieved.
In the men’s race, Jeffrey scored good points in the long distance events. No fewer than nine new Austrian records he booked records into his account. But from the 2000 meters Ivan MIHALJVIC (Mladost Zagreb) put Jeff under hugh pressure. As a good sprinter, he gained points in every round, but had to admit defeat by 3.36 points after 12 sessions. Three new overall records were achieved for men.
Overall result by age and weight:
Top scorers of all ages and weight categories in the top places. In the final laps, the lead and positions changed several times, often separated by just a few tenths of a point. Ultimately, Ute SIMMA (Wiking Bregenz) was able to prevail and win the 2023 ranking. During the 12 rounds, Anna ALLIQUANDER (DNHE Budapest) and Claudia GIACOMAZZI (DLN Trieste) were quite inconspicuous, but always very strong overall. Like Scarlett, Dubravko, Ivan or Goran, they can’t set new Austrian records.
As challenge admin, I would like to thank you for the mostly punctual transmission of the data and your forbearance with some errors when entering the results list.

I want to take the opportunity to congratulate Jeffrey Campbell for taking the overall win for men. Those alien-like results and challenge and Austrian records at every single distance from half marathon to 4 min. kept me motivated and at the same time in despair, as I knew that even though I managed to gain some speed on last year’s challenge, I realistically stood no chance against such a competent athlete. Well done Jeff and kudos to you.
